DAVANGERE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the Padmashri Chindodi Leela Kalakshetra built by drama artiste and former chairperson of the Karnataka Nataka Academy Chindodi Leela on Saturday.Ms. Leela and her son Chindodi L. Chandradhara told presspersons here on Wednesday that the theatre was built at a cost of Rs. 65 lakh and the cost was met by the family members.
The theatre would be reserved to stage dramas, dance and other cultural activities and it was built to promote cultural activities, particularly theatre.On the occasion, four persons who had excelled in different fields would be felicitated. They are Puttaraja Gavai, Go.Ru. Chennabasappa, Enagi Balappa, Sarojamma Duttaragi.Shamanur Shivashankarappa, Davangere MLA, would preside over the programme. Sri Shivamurthy Murugarajendra Swamiji of Brihanmath, Chitradurga, Sri Gurusiddarajayogindra Mahaswamiji of Jagadguru Murusaviramath, Hubli, and Sri Basavajayamruthyanjaya Mahaswamiji would take part in the function. National Award winner Umashree, Kannada Development Authority chairman Mukyamanthri Chandru and veteran journalist Patil Puttappa would take part in the function. On the same day, Master Hirannaiah would give a lecture on professional drama in Karnataka in the afternoon session.
B.V. Rajaram, chairman of the Karnataka Nataka Academy, would be the chief guest. The KBR drama company of Chindodi Leela would enact its
popular drama Policena Magalu in the Kalakshetra in the evening on the same day and there would be no entry fees for the drama.
