Belgaum: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Tuesday hinted at giving priority to rural development in the Budget proposals for 2010-11.He was speaking at a function organised to mark the inauguration of various development projects and laying the foundation for drinking water supply schemes and irrigation projects worth Rs. 224 crore in Athani, 145 km from Belgaum.
Minister for Rural Development Jagdish Shetter, Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi, Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi, Minister for Horticulture Umesh V. Katti and Minister for Water Resources Basavaraj Bommai were present.Taking a dig at the Opposition parties, the Chief Minister told the people to ignore their criticism.Appealing for people’s support to his Government, he said that his Government would change the economic status of the State by taking up major development projects in the next three years.Referring to the welfare schemes initiated by his Government, the Chief Minister said that nine lakh farmers took Rs. 6,149 crore as farm loans at 3 per cent interest during the current financial year.
