Voices rise for classical language status

UJIRE: A day after chief minister B S Yeddyurappa spoke about bestowing the language of the state status on Tulu and assuring all help for
recommending its inclusion in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, there has been a call that Tulu also deserves classical language status.Speaking at the convention here on Friday, chief editor of Tulu lexicon U P Upadhyaya said Tulu, which is as ancient and as literally rich as Kannada, Tamil and Telugu not only deserves place in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, but also classical language status.
