State govt now targets truckers with flood toll

The cash-starved state government is doing everything possible to boost its revenue collection in the wake of the flood crisis. After
hinting at fresh taxes, it has now set its eyes on heavy truck operators.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday, decided to collect toll from transporters of iron ore, sand, granite and timber for maintenance of state roads.
