KONGAWADA (Dharwad District): Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the State Government will be requesting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to release Rs. 6,000 crore as temporary relief for taking up rehabilitation measures in flood-affected districts of the State.
Speaking to presspersons after launching work on relocating Kongawada village in Navalgund taluk of Dharwad district on Monday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that earlier the Government had sought an assistance of Rs. 10,000 crore and now it was seeking Rs. 6,000 crore in addition to that as a temporary relief.
He said that a delegation from the State would meet the Prime Minister on Tuesday and apprise him of the situation in the flood-affected areas.
To a question, he said that after conducting an aerial survey of the affected areas, the Prime Minister had promised to provide assistance for taking up relief and rehabilitation measures. “We believe in his words,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.
