L&T plans 1,600 Mw power plant in Karnataka

“We have bid (for a project) under the public-private partnership (PPP) model along with the Karnataka Power Corporation. This will be a coal-based power plant involving an investment of Rs 10,000 crore,” L&T’s Senior Executive Director and Vice-President (Power Business) A K Chatwani told reporters here.The plant will be set up in a joint venture.L&T has several engineering projects in Karnataka and besides, has successfully built the Bangalore airport project.Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, said his state has given top priority to the power sector as the state was afflicted by power shortage.”The state is eyeing at least 15,000 Mw of power projects in the state,” Yeddyurappa said.
