K’taka Govt to shift 346 flood-hit villages

Following fear of submergence during coming monsoons, the villagers of north Karnataka have demanded shifting of their villages to safer places.
With this, the Karnataka Government headed by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has decided to rehabilitate people of 346 villages located in 14 districts of north Karnataka, which witnessed unprecedented rainfall during the last September-October.The villagers, who saw the newly formed layouts in the districts of north Karnataka, now wanted to move safer places not only because of flood fears but also because of availing better facilities and housing.Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday presided a meeting of Deputy Commissioners at the State secretariat and reviewed the status of rehabilitation work in flood affected districts of north Karnataka.
