Projects worth Rs 40,336.43 crore were approved by the Karnataka Government at a high level meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa here today.Talking to newspersons here after the meeting, Minister for Large and Medium Industries Murugesh R Nirani said the major approval included a Rs 15,131.70 crore investment by JSW Steel and Rs 9,280 crore by NMDC. The projects cleared could generate 30,352 jobs, he claimed.According to a note circulated, JSW Steel proposed to expand capacity from ten metric tonnes per annum to 16 MTPA at its integrated steel plant in Bellary district besides setting up a 600 MW captive power plant there.State-run National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) planned to set up an integrated steel plant with five MTPA in Bellary district on 5,000 acres of land to be acquired by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board.
