Bangalore, Feb 24 : Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and industry chambers here Wednesday lauded Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for a slew of proposals, including new trains, survey for new rail lines in the state and a design, development and testing centre in this tech hub.
Thanking Banerjee for her munificence, Yeddyurappa, the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief minister in Karnataka, said the budget proposals would improve rail connectivity across the state and spur economic growth of the region.
“I am happy with the railway budget as its proposals will benefit the state, which remained neglected for decades. I thank the minister for sanctioning eight new projects on cost-sharing basis with the state government,” the chief minister said in a statement here.
