Kalasa Banduri: CM to lead all-party team

BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will lead an all-party team to the Centre on January 13 to press the state’s case on the Kalasa Banduri Nala project over River Mahadayi, in the wake of the Centre’s recent decision to constitute a tribunal over the state’s dispute with Goa.

In a joint press briefing, following a meeting with leaders of the Opposition parties in the state Assembly and Council, Yeddyurappa said that the State would appeal to the Centre to take note of the Supreme Court’s observations to facilitate drinking water projects in Karnataka.

It will ask the Centre to stick to its 2002 decision to allow Karnataka to divert 7.5 TMC feet of Mahadayi waters to meet the drinking water needs of Hubli-Dharwad and a few other parts of North Karnataka.
