Govt nod for Jurala project

yedigulbragGULBARGA: The State government has given its approval for the joint hydel power project with Andhra Pradesh at Jurala reservoir across river Krishna, near Raichur at a cost of Rs143
crore. The Jurala Hydel Power Project will provide 181 mu of power per day at the rate of Rs 2.18
per unit. The State Cabinet meeting held here, on Thursday, decided to bear half of the
project’s cost. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa after the meeting informed the media that
the State would release about Rs 70 crore as its share in the joint hydel project. The Cabinet also approved the construction of a bridge at Dongarampur and Kurvakhurd at a cost of Rs 5.62
crore and for the construction of a bridge connecting Atkur and Kurvakhurd villages at a
cost of Rs 10.6 cr. All these three villages in Raichur district are affected by the Priyadarshini-
Jurala Irrigation Project of Andhra Pradesh. Arriving at a major decision, the Cabinet gave its administrative approval for the development of Hampi, a world heritage site, at a cost of Rs 81.91
crore. Of the total cost the Central government will bear Rs 32.83 crore and the State Rs 49.08 crore. The Cabinet authorised the chief minister to recommend the State’s eminent personalities
for the Central government’s Padma awards on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2010.
