Government to make ore trucks pay

Taking note of the damage mine trucks were doing to the state’s roads, the government has decided to impose a toll on transportation of ore, granite, sand and timber in the state.

A decision on this was taken at the emergency Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. There has been a demand for imposing toll on transportation of heavy material like iron ore ever since mine lorries carrying ore from Bellary started damaging the state’s roads, affecting road users and burdening the state’s exchequer.
