MYSORE: The grand finale of Dasara was marked by a vibrant display of the State’s cultural diversity. The ten-day long festivities concluded with the Jamboo Savari here on Monday. The State’s variety was reflected in the tableaus and the cultural troupes that took part in the Jamboo Savari, which was watched with enthusiasm and admiration by people of all ages, who braved the heat to be there.
This year, a record 101 cultural troupes and tableaus took part in the Dasara procession, which was flagged off on the premises of Amba Vilas Palace by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.Though elephant Balarama, who carried the golden howdah with the idol of Goddess hamundeshwari on it, and the caparisoned elephants were the cynosure of all eyes at the Vijayadashami procession, the tableaus and the performances of the folk artistes also caught the eye.
