Church attacks are organised: CM

BANGALORE: After two churches in Mysore and Bhatkal were attacked on the eve of the Republic Day, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday said that an organised group was behind the church attacks in the state.

Speaking to reporters after the Republic Day parade, Yeddyurappa said “Some people are constantly working to tarnish the image of my government which is working for the betterment of society”.

Taking note of the latest attacks on churches, Governor H R Bharadwaj said in his Republic Day address in Bangalore that it was the constitutional duty of every government to deal with the forces that disturb communal peace and harmony, with a heavy hand.

“I have no doubt that the concerned law enforcing agencies will act with promptitude against the offenders,” the Governor said.
