HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER SRI B.S.YEDDYURAPPA HAS ADDRESSED A LETTER TO HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF ANDHRA PRADESH SRI ROSAIAH REGARDING MINING.
THE CONTENTS OF THE LETTER IS AS FALLOWS.
Dear Sri Rosaiah garu,
Recently the News Papers have reported about mining activity at Kurkyla, Karinmagar District where a historical tank was built in the memory of Poet Pampa and rare stone inscriptions are facing serious threat of destruction due to this mining activity as these monuments are situated only 20 k.m.s away from Karimnagar District.
As you are aware Kurkyla is a repository of Jain culture and Shri Jina Vallabha, younger brother of Adi Kavi Pampa, in order to perpetuate the name of his poet-brother built a tank viz, ‘Kavita Gunarnava Tataka’ and this title Kavita Gunarnava was conferred and Adi Kavi Pampa by the then King Arikesarl for composing ‘Pampa Bharata’ atop the hill there is a jinalya constructed by Jina Vallabha in 945 A.D. The name of ‘Adi Kavi’ Pampa is referred in these stone inscriptions.
These stone incriptions contain 3 verses in Telugu and Kannada besides wooden shoes belonging to Vrishabhadeva and idols of Yakshini Bommalamma can be found.
Since the area covers ancient monuments like stone inscriptions, historical tank and Jinalaya ‘which’ relate to Adi Kavi Pampa, there is an urgent need to protect these historical monuments .
In the circumstances, I request you kindly to issue Instructions to the concerned to take immediate steps to stop mining in this area in view of a serious threat being posed to the Ancient monuments in this area.
Hon’ble Chief Minister
Government of Andhra Pradesh
