BANGALORE, DHNS: Twenty four children with orthopedic disorders were successfully treated on the 6th day of the Sparsh Vachana event at the Sparsh Hospital here on Saturday. The various corrective surgeries done on Saturday were open reduction of dislocated hip, osteogenesis imperfecta of the tibia, reconstruction of old infected hip and clubbed foot.
Earlier in the morning,Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa paid a surprise visit. In the afternoon, Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw,cricketers Anil Kumble, Robin Uthappa and a few members of Royal Challengers cricket team cheered up the children. Expressing her happiness,Shaw said: “Every child is important. More corporates and individuals should come forward and contribute to such a cause.”
The Royal Challengers team, along with its team manager Avinash Vaidya interacted with the children and distributed the Royal allengers’scarf.
They were overwhelmed with the reactions of the children and the effort made to help them lead normal lives. Anil Kumble said, “I was always under the impression that children have no hope. This event has been an experience for me.”
