Report of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri.B.S.Yeddurappa on 6th Sept 2009.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri.B.S.Yeddurappa today visited rural side of Shanghai region and interacted with the farmers. He visited the paddy fields, tortoise raring centers, fish ponds and spoke to the farmers who have taken up additional income generating activities along with agriculture to supplement their income. In a village called “Mao Qiao Villa” , The Chief Minister spoke to a farmer couple “Hu Xiu Feng” and “Feng Shui Ying” with the help of Chinese interpreter and learnt about the ways of Chinese village life and other things. He along with the delegation members also visited the rural road side vegetable and fruit market and acquainted with the marketing of the farm produce.

The Chief Minister was impressed with the neatness and the infrastructural facilities available in the rural parts of China. He was also amassed to the average life span of Chinese (78 Years) and was surprised to see the elderly people leading active life. He enquired about the local administration practices.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister and members of the delegation visited the Shanghai Urban Infrastructure Exhibition Centre. Where he and the members of the delegation was briefed about the future city planning (2030) and also the proposed Shanghai World Expo 2010.

With these two visits, Chief Minister, Sri.B.S.Yeddurappa could experience rural as well as urban life style of Chinese simultaneously and expressed his desire to emulate at least some of the practices back home, which have helped the ease the life in urban and rural parts of China areas.
