He promised to take Kadur taluk on adoption, and shower development works there. A review meeting would be held every month there, CM added and gave a call to elect the party in authority (BJP).
He wooed fasting Muslims.

He went to an Iftar party to socialize with Muslim devotees of Ramzan (Ramadhyan?), organised by his party’s Minority Communities Cell (MCC). Then, he went to a dinner hosted by sports personalities. This is just to celebrate Commonwealth Games in advance, with a Queen’s baton reaching Bangalore, on its way to Mangalore (and Karwar) by Sept 5 evening.
Yeddy told at Iftar Party that he did not look down upon Muslims or other minorities in state. No other previous govt, has done so much for Muslim as his, he explained.
Still, Anwar Sharif, Jumma Mosque chief, wanted his govt’s help to create a Karnataka heritage for Muslims, besides on Islamic Development Centre at the Quddus Sahib prayer grounds. CM’s reaction is not known.

Bidar (Karnataka): We are back square one, could be his feeling on agriculture which traveled through organic, Chemical and inorganic forms of manure to raise production. Now everyone finds some good and useful factor in using organic compost in fertilizing the fields before sowing productive seeds. CM on Saturday at Bidar in Aurad taluk inaugurated a programme called In the courtyard of food-giver farmer” at Kundagol, and told local people that an amount of Rs.100 crores had been provided for organic manures under Organic Agricultural Mission in 2009-10 but in the new year budget 2010-11, double this amount would be kept aside to encourage organic farming in state. CM told farmers that Mission head Anand had spent Rs.50 crores already, but could ask for more (like Oliver Twist in an Orphanage in Dickens’ novel). The amount would be increased on the asking, he added. He revealed that 35, 000 farmers would come under the scheme in 2010-11.

The Organic Farming Mission aims to create self-confidence in farming, when chemical inputs failed to increase produce over the years. The farmers have to be pulled out of their vicious circle, by returning to healthy organic compost being used in Indians / local agriculture, CM said.

Every year, 500 farmers were sent abroad hitherto, for study of organic agriculture in various countries. This year and next, in 2010-11, a thousand women in rural agriculture could be sent to foreign lands to backup the attempt to revolutionaries farming methods, as in China, Burmna, Vietnam even USA. The farmers should get rid of tractors / tillers, and take to bullock yoking system for their agricultural lands, and they should learn ways to get richer, by selling their produce to the consumer directly at a decent higher price (without middlemen who eat away their profits), CM expatiated.

He cautioned farmers against misuse / overuse of power, then only they will get free power for farmers to take an oath, not to poison the earth.

Raichur: The Raichur power supply plant had lost its power generation capacity in several plants (out of 8 units) and CM is due to send a team of technical experts to set right the weak plants soon. CM visited the RTPS complex and spoke later to waiting pressmen on Saturday.
In place of a total 1470 Mega Watts power generation, the Raichur complex produced 500 mw less for various technical disabilities, CM found. A complete investigation will be done on wear and tear by the experts’ team to discover pitfalls and faults in power supply, he added.
Based on the report from experts, KPC authorities will be alerted to make necessary alternations in plant units to obtain full measurers of coal induced power supply, CM conveyed.
There is no crisis in coal Supply, CM indicated, but the coal is affected by rains and wetness. The demand for power also has come down in rural areas, as rains are falling in the fields. Extra power is not needed to raise water, so extra coal supplies also are not called for, he told reporters.
Fellow ministers C.M. Udasi, Karunakara Reddy, MLC Shankerappa and ports Fisheries Minister Anand Asnotikar were present.

Bangalore: Over a lakh of people were rendered homeless destitutes in floods that engulfed many districts of North Karnataka borderlands in Oct 2009. Presently 60,000 houses in a better and higher locality at Kongawada in Hubli-Dharawad district are coming up after an year under Sri Dharmasthala rural development Scheme, of which 250 houses were ready and given away to various beneficiaries. But the house-key receivers found the new homes too small, whereupon CM agreed to pay Rs. 25,000 to construct additional rooms in each house, provided the home-owners also paid Rs. 25,000 for this additional room/s. All houses are expected to be ready by early 2011, CM said in the inaugural function on Thursday last.

The SBI and SBM have graciously come forward to give agricultural loans to farmers upto Rs. 50,000 for the current season at 3% and only 2% interest respectively. State Bank of Mysore is the first in the nation among nationalized banks to uplift local farmers on such a loan given at just 2% interest, it is learnt, and this is a model for all other nationalized banks to follow suit, CM informed in a meeting.

Perhaps he was aware that in CM Nijalingappa’s rule, the larger Mysore state was surplus in power and he had gone out of state to bring industries and services here to utilise the excess production of power.
But fast growing Bangalore since 1965 in many ways utilised the power fully and went deficit, seeking more power from Goa, Tamilnadu, Andhra, even Gujarat and Maharastra.
CM Yeddyurappa also held out as hope of providing jobs for 10 lakhs of qualified youngsters in the next 3 years. He banked on Rs 5 lakhs crores from local and outside investors to create jobs in the state, and the results will be known in the next 2 years.

Mahajan Commission report long ago, therefore there is no question of holding a meeting of two chief Ministers (Karnataka and Maharashtra) with PM Manmohan Singh at this late hour, said CM B.S. Yeddyurappa in Belgaum when reporters confronted him on Nitin Gadkari’s (BJP president) suggestion, which he (CM) turned down today.
CM told reporters that he would write to Nitin Gadkari early on the matter to tell him that his suggestion was not acceptable to Karnataka. He even did not want the Maharashtra BJP to contact him, he acidly told the press.
The border dispute is a closed chapter, as Karwar and Belgaum belonged to Karnataka, as per Mahajan report which is final, CM shot off in answer to queries from the Forth Estate today.

Bangalore: Inspecting a one km free concrete road stretch at Hosur Road, donated by Cement Mfrs. Association here, CM Yeddyurappa was obliged to say on Wednesday, that all areas around Bangalore (coming under BBMP or BDA) would be concretized instead of using bituminous (tar) roads which get worn cut quickly. The cost may be 20% more but it is worth going in for concretes works on roads even in all cities, as the state has enough funds, he observed.
The road life will increase by 25 to 30 years with little or no maintenance costs, he admitted.
The bituminous roads have a life of 2 0r 3 years, need frequent maintenance, develop pot-holes, and damages, requiring repairs after Monsoon. White tops are better than black tops (asphalting) on roads as the former last longer, CM explained. He then directed BBMP / BDA engineers to draw up the plans to ensure smooth traffic movements.
He cited Mumbai as a model for concrete roads, and with private-public partnership it can be done here in Bangalore, he said. The people using the roads will not be asked to pay tolls. The private sector partners will be given advertising rights on the length of roads. A final decision will be taken soon, he indicated.
Later, he inaugurates a pre-cast element underpass (way) at Madiwala junction. The work was done in 2 months only. CM and his ministers took a walk on the underbridges.
Near the Town Hall in front of Dasappa Hospital, a pedestrian underpass was thrown open by CM. The work lasted 2 years, costing Rs.37 crores.
Speaking to press persons who followed him, CM said that a project for 10 multi-level parting complexes costing Rs. 1000 crores was sanctioned. Bangalore city needed overbridges, underpasses and flyovers to case density of population and avoid road accidents. 75% of the Metro train work from M.G. Road to Byappanahalli has been completed. The govt will spend Rs. 18,000 crores on infrastructure works in 2010-13, CM envisioned.

Mangalore: CM yedyurappa visit on the eve of a Raksha Bandhan (tying safety belts on the arm by sisters to brothers), he informed that the state was passing through power shortage, but his government was buying 500 to 1000 mw of power from other states, or getting it from the grid in view of city expansions, and new housing schemes completed of private and public sectors.

But he wanted to know from state opposition leaders, whether his resignation would solve the power requirements problem. For everything, the Congress and JD (S) talk of ruling party’s resignation when their High Commands had made it clear that they had no plans to overthrow an elected govt. then why the local people in legislature demand his resignation, he asked in Mangalore, which had made an import on him.
He admitted that Mangalore was growing only next to Bangalore in the state at a fast rate, and pronounced Rs 100 crores for its further development, under several social welfare schemes.
Then the gracious CM announced a series of other grants to Mangalore. An amount of Rs.100 crores is kept in next year’s budget for handicapped and mentally weak persons. Children from “Sannidhya” (Shaktinagar) of dormant ability tied the ‘safety belts’ for Raksha Bandhan on CM’s wrist.
5% if grants made to MCC (Rs.100 crores) will be kept reserved for SC/ST development (Rs. 5 crores). 21 houses built, and given to SC/ST families at Urwa Stores (Ashok Nagar) by CM on Aug 23 will be continued as a model for other districts in the state to emulate. Town Councils will get Rs 30 crores as grants soon, 3% of which had to be used for the upliftment of SC/ST as their reserve funds, he added.
In Mangalore, houses built costing Rs 1.50 lakhs each, are qualitative and exemplary to other SC/ST groups in the state, CM stated. The money meant for SC/ST is raised from 18% to 22% by the state govt.
