BANGALORE : Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, on Tuesday, said computer literacy was critical for youngsters to evolve as successful professionals. He was speaking at the launch of IT education programmes devised by SRM Learning Tree Pvt Ltd. (SRMLT).
Detailing the state’s priorities in the education sector, the CM said the central government has granted Rs 950 crore for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Pursuing with the government’s efforts to enhance the technical education scene in the state, nine ITIs will be established at the taluka level.
After launching the computer courses, IT, BT, Excise and BWSSB minister Katta Subramanya Naidu said that a new IT/BT policy was being formulated for the state. Naidu also said the state needed to give more focus on the hardware industry.
The IT education programmes propose to ensure a workforce of skilled employees who are tuned into the demands of the industry. The courses will cover technology, project development, communication and personality
